[Welcome to the 1950's. Mr. Panda is a successful banker and father known around town as a jovial and, unfortunately, clueless man. His biggest successes are Bearbank, his little princess Pilouette, his very dear daughter Toph...and, eh, there might be a third child in the middle there somewhere. Maybe.

Now that he's made his wealth, he spends a lot of his time gossiping! So if you're in the aristocracy and/or on good terms with Panda, you might get one of the following phone calls.]

[Night One]

Hello, hello...! Do you ever want to pick up a really awesome talent, even if it means you have to risk your life to learn it? Is there anyone in town like that?

[Night Two]

Hello, hello...! Don't mind me, just go ahead and start talking! Ah! But first, don't you get a really good feeling when you say "Mr. Panda" out loud? It's great, isn't it?

[Night Three]

Hello, hello...how do you think I should get beautiful women to fall in love with me without even trying? With Pillo and Toph and the other at the dance, I realize it's very quiet around here...

[Actually, Panda wishes she would come to him for stuff more...at least that way, he can feel like he's being a good dad. He shakes his head, not that Toph can see it.]

Nope! But if you need anything you'll ask, right? Did you want to spend time with me tonight...? Or do you need some love advice?

Love advi- Dad! No! Gross! [She gives a very visible shudder.] Why is everyone talking about that kinda thing... [ It's because it's homecoming season, Toph. ]

Hehe. [He sets a paw...a hand on Toph's head and ruffles her hair a little.] So, what is it? Did you come here to ask something? If you're scared, you can share the bed with me, like when you were little.

I'm not scared of anything, Dad. You know that. I'm not a little girl anymore. [ She doesn't shy away from hair ruffles, though. She can't see him, so random shows of affection like this always reassure her a bit. ]

I'm just here 'cause Pilouette and Tsuna are off doing homecoming things again. [ And maybe she's feeling a bit left out. She doesn't have anything to feel excited about for that night. ]

Ehh...are they? And they didn't even invite us along? That wasn't very nice of them! I picked out a nice dress for you so we can all get our picture taken together tomorrow night, hehe.

[He's kind of forgetting that prom is more for the kids...he wants his picture taken at every turn!]

Well it's not like I'm going to homecoming! So it isn't their fault or anything. [ She shrugs... and then she actually registers the rest of what he's said. ]

Wait, you got me a dress?

And you're going to homecoming, Dad?

Mmm...I can't go to homecoming. All the chaperones were filled up before I had a chance to join in. I'll be here all by myself, since I asked Tsuna to take you with him...

You asked Tsuna to take me? Dad! Why would you do that? [ That's even worse than not going at all! ]

Toph, Toph...! It's because someone like him couldn't ever find a date, don't worry. I know daddy can count on you for this, right?

[ GRUMPY FROWNING. ]

I know that. But Tsuna's my brother! That's not how it's supposed to work, is it?

Well, Toph, sometimes...it's better to just play along to make someone else look better. I'll make it up to you, I promise. I can buy you anything you want after, alright?

I don't really want anything... [ Well, she'd wanted to go to the dance. But not as Tsuna's date aughhh.

She hunches her shoulders. ] But that's fine, I guess I could do it for Tsuna. He can make it up to me or something later. [ She'll think of Things. It'll be fun. ]

That's right, that's right. He's not as adventurous as you are, Toph.

I was watching our maid do the laundry earlier. It seems like a lot of your dresses are coming home dirty...you aren't being bullied, are you?

Bullied, me? [ Toph's voice is startled. She knows why she's been coming home dirty, but she isn't going to say so just yet. She knows what Dad thinks of the Lowtown folk. ] What makes you think that?

Mm...Pillouete's clothes never get that dirty. If people are giving you a rough time at school, it's okay to tell me. I'll make sure they don't get away with it, Toph.

That's because she doesn't know how to have fun... [ Toph shifts in her seat, trying not to sound suspicious. ] Don't worry about it, Dad. I can take care of myself! I'm your tough Toph, remember?

Is that what you're doing...having fun? [She hasn't really answered his question, but he finds himself nodding. He's easily caught up in conversations like that.] That's right! Just be careful, alright...? Your daddy still worries~!

[ She nudges her dad with her shoulder, almost roughly but not quite there. After all, she was still pretty tiny compared to her bear of a father. ]

I'll be careful, I promise. Anyway, if anything weird happens, I've got Fluffles to watch out for me. So it's cool.

[He ruffles her hair. Miraculously, his claws never touch her! That'd certainly be confusing, because he doesn't have claws. He's a person. (He's a panda).]

That's right...but Fluffles can't do all the work, okay? Just be careful for me, okay?

Sure, Dad. I can do that. [Toph smiles. That wasn't promising not to do anything else, technically! So it all works out.]
